Put your test instrument on every certificate

Enter your tester's brand, model, serial number and calibration date once, and every certificate shows the instrument the readings were taken with.

Clients, auditors and insurers often ask what an item was tested with and whether that meter was in calibration. Koalaris answers that on the certificate itself, so nobody has to ask.

Steps

  1. Open Account, then Test equipment.
  2. Enter your meter's brand, model and serial number, for example Kyoritsu KEW 6205.
  3. Add the calibration due date from the meter's calibration sticker or certificate.
  4. Check the line under On your certificates, then tap Save.

From then on, every test you record carries that instrument. Certificates and visit service reports print a line such as "Test instrument: Kyoritsu KEW 6205 · S/N 6205118 · calibration due 01 Mar 2027".

How it works with a team

Each person on your team enters their own meter, so a certificate always names the instrument that was really used for those readings. If two technicians test at the same visit with different meters, each test carries its own.

When calibration falls due

Koalaris shows a warning on the Test equipment screen from 30 days before the calibration date, and a stronger one once it has passed. Tests recorded after that still print the date, so a client can see it, which is a good reason to get the meter recalibrated on time.

Changing meters

When you get a new meter or your meter comes back from calibration, update the details and save. Certificates already issued keep the instrument they were tested with, so your old records stay true to what happened on the day.

Common questions

Do I have to fill this in?

No. Every field is optional. Leave it blank and certificates simply don't show a test instrument line.

Does it work with any tester?

Yes. Type in whatever portable appliance tester you use. You can also import your tester's export file to bring your existing results across.

Where does it appear?

At the top of test and tag certificates, with the visit's other details, and on visit service reports. When more than one meter was used, each one is listed.

Does it change certificates I've already issued?

No. Each test keeps the instrument recorded with it, so a meter changed later leaves old certificates as they were. Read more about what a test and tag certificate should show.
